Browser tab management is harder on a phone than on a computer or tablet. You don’t usually get visual tabs across the top of the screen, so they pile up out of view. Let’s look at how to close tabs on your Android phone.

Every browser deals with tabs differently, but the same rules generally apply to most of them. We’ll be focusing on Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Mozilla Firefox on Android phones in this guide.

Close Tabs in Chrome for Android

First, open Google Chrome for Android and tap the rounded square with a number inside. This icon is usually in the top right.

Tap the tabs button.

Now you’ll see all the currently open tabs (along with any tab groups you’ve created). Simply tap the “X” icon in the corner of a tab to close it.

If you close a tab by accident, tap the “Undo” button that appears at the bottom of the screen after closing a tab.

You can also close all the tabs at once by tapping the three-dot menu icon on the Tabs page and selecting “Close All Tabs.”

First, open Microsoft Edge for Android and tap the rounded square with a number inside in the bottom toolbar.

Tap the menu icon.

Now you’ll see a grid of all the currently open tabs. Simply tap the “X” icon in the bottom corner of a tab to close it.

If you close a tab by accident, tap the “Undo” button that appears at the bottom of the screen after closing a tab.

It’s tempting to keep a ton of tabs open at all times, but that can slow down your phone and use data in the background. Plus, let’s be honest. You probably don’t need all those tabs open, anyway.
